Two Klang-born brothers, Harry Danish and Haykal Danish, have been shortlisted as three candidates for the MFL Cup Player of the Year for the 2024/25 National Football Awards.

With a difference of one year, Harry Danish or Harry, the elder brother, began joining the Red Giants' under-18 squad in the 2022 season. He was a key player in the Firdaus Tan-coached squad that successfully lifted the 2022 Youth Cup championship trophy. Harry was then promoted to the Red and Yellow squad's under-20 team in 2023, before successfully breaking through to the Selangor FC 'feeder' squad for the final season of the 2024/25 MFL Cup.

Meanwhile, Haykal Danish or more affectionately known as Manja, continued to break into the Selangor FC under-23 squad immediately after graduating from the Mokhtar Dahari Academy in 2023. Despite being small in stature but having excellent technical skills, he continued to be a key player in the Red Giants' feeder squad for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024/25. In fact, he was also the team's vice captain throughout his time with the team.

Expressing his gratitude after being shortlisted as three candidates for the 2024/25 MFL Cup Player of the Year alongside his own brother, "I really didn't expect to be listed (from the beginning) and shortlisted as three candidates for the MFL Cup Best Player, let alone being nominated alongside my own brother. This somewhat gives me high motivation to continue to be confident in the advantages I have and will give better in the future."

Meanwhile, Manja hopes to be able to give a good competition, "I also did not expect to be shortlisted for this category because there are many good and quality players in the MFL Cup competition, it is not easy to be nominated. Moreover, our competitor, Gab (Gabriel Nistelrooy), has clearly scored a lot of goals but I hope to be able to give him a good competition. I hope this will be a source of motivation for me to do better in my football career."

Always supporting her two children in football since they were little, Bonda Harry and Haykal is proud of her children's achievements, "Alhamdulillah, first of all as the mother of Harry and Manja, I am very grateful that my two children were nominated for this award. I am very proud of the hard work they put in for themselves and the team. I pray for them to succeed in the world and in the sport, and may they continue to persevere to give their best in this field."

The management of Selangor FC prays for the best for Harry Danish and Haykal Danish. Hopefully this achievement will help them to continue to create more success in the future.
